My Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is "Laskar Pelangi". This film tells about the life of ten children from poor families in a Muhammadiyah school on the island of Belitung. They are school and learn in the same class from grade one to grade three elementary school and junior high school. And they call themselves as Laskar Pelangi.

If we see this film, we will know how they fight to get education. I think this movie can give a good example for children and make sad everyone who sees it. This story shows us the struggle of life; achieve the dream and the beauty of friendship that saves human lives.

I was really sad and disappointed many children could not go to school because they have not enough money pay for it. This story tells us that we must not desperate because the limitations. But, that things can motivate us to do things better. This film can give me a big power to achieve my dream and I also understand the real meaning of education.

I also like with this film because it’s have unique things. This film is full of nuances Belitung Island that this beautiful Island had become one of the richest Islands in Indonesia. Actors who are members of Laskar Pelangi are also the children of the original Belitung.

At the moment, many movie that tell about love and horror. But I was very proud with this movie because this movie can give something that different with other movies. Recently, “Laskar Pelangi” gets awards as a best movie pictures.

My Unforgettable Moment

Last year, I followed the Introduction to Campus Orientation (Ospek) when I pass the selection after the receipt of new students in Airlangga University. At the time of entering the campus, I feel very different when compared to the first time High School.

Ospek as a kind of ritual that must be passed by each new student. Without it, as it were, will not be legitimate students. Therefore, older students often force new students to follow this procession. Ospek is one way which must be new students.Ospek as a means to identify and understand the campus. Therefore, Ospek is still urgent, and find the point on the relevance of each new student.

At first I joined this activity, I felt afraid and confused because so many new students in there. I really met with new condition. Because I need to get socialized and I need to get attentive on everything around me. Suddenly my shoe was broken. So, I felt really very confused and panic. Lastly, I leave secretly from that orientation. Then, I went to Pucang’s shop for bought new shoes. After I bought that, I back to UNAIR and followed that orientation again. And nobody knew with my problem. After that, I try to relax and I believe that I can follow this activity until finish. After I have that idea, at last I can enjoy it.

And when I have joined this activity, so many things had changed me. Yeah, about being mature and all that. About friends, sharing, being together, everything that I've never thought before. And from activities that also, I can get a lot of new friends. There's one thing that my major has, and I think not the entire major has it, the togetherness. It's not only being together which is important, but the essential of having a new family around me, for today and the next 3 years to my study. We're not just friends, we're just like family. We're going to do everything together in our first year, and it's important not being selfish. Finally, I can know that the goal of Ospek is that students know more about the direction that I choose, the more lecturers, the senior, on the set, and others. And many of the things that are useful will get with the Ospek. So, it’s my unforgettable moment.

MY HOMETOWN

I Live in the center of Surabaya city. It is on the east coast of Java Island. The name of Surabaya is taken from Javanese name of Shark and Crocodile. "Sura" for the shark and "Baya" for the crocodile. Sometimes Surabaya is also called "Hero City", because it has a Hero Statue in memory of the heroes of there was of independence. Surabaya is a hot city, when it is summer it becomes very hot here. Surabaya has a lot of big shopping mall, such as Galaxy Mall, Tunjungan Plaza, Supermall, and many others. If you visit Surabaya you will find a lot kind of traditional food such as Rujak Cingur, Pecel, Rawon, Ayam penyet, Fried duck, etc. You can also find Surabaya style drinks, such as Es Campur, Es kacang ijo, Es dawet etc. Surabaya has a lot of wonderful restaurants, museums, historical places, and a zoo. Tugu Pahlawan ( Heroes Monument ) and Makam Pahlawan are some of the historic places you can visit.
The zoo isn't very good but it has a unique statue of the Shark and Crocodile in front of the zoo. Surabaya city also has a good medical reputation. It has a lot hospitals and specialist clinics. And Surabaya has several major universities and other institutions with religious or technical specialties. One of them is Airlangga University (Unair), the university that I choose for study in there. As the main education center, Surabaya has been the home for many students from around Indonesia, even they have created their own community.

So, surabaya is my lovely hometown…
